Calico Spirit

Calico Spirit is more than a just a support group -- it's a support system for those affected by HIV in our community.

HIV impacts every aspect of one's life... Being chronically ill challenges a person's finances, job security, family life and their outlook on life.  Calico Spirit provides support and assistance for those with HIV and their immediate family.

Calico Spirit takes it further by providing financial assistance for food, medicine, transportation, housing, utilities and doctor's visits.  We maintain a pantry of necessities to help during difficult times.

Calico Spirit organizes and funds workshops that help members become active and involved in their health and and well-being.  Past workshops have included healthy cooking, yoga & meditation, art as therapy and healthy living.

Members discuss issues such as coping with treatment and illness, dealing with finances, loss of partners and friends, and protecting our partners and our community.  Gatherings are usually planned for evening hours and often revolve around a healthy snack or meal.

Calico provides funding and volunteers for HIV outreach, education and prevention in Western. Nebraska and Eastern Wyoming.  Calico also works with healthcare providers to address patient concerns and to maximize treatment effectiveness.

Calico Spirit respects it's member's privacy and confidentiality and also encourages it's members to volunteer and participate in the various gatherings, fundraisers and events to guarantee it's long-term success.

Calico is a registered non profit and all donations to Calico are tax-deductible.  We accept donations of cash, non-perishable food and health items, and items suitable for use as prizes during fundraisers.
